Donation for Jammu & Kashmir Relief (25th September 2014)

School plays vital role in making a sound personality of a child who is kind, sympathetic and caring for others. To feel other’s sorrow and pain and to provide helping hand to a needy one Gurukul Sr. Sec. School, Matindu explained the tragedy of flood in Jammu and Kashmir and the students offers their help by contributing their pocket money to the Prime Minister National Relief Fund.

Staff members also contribute in this noble cause. So Gurukul Sr. Sec. School, Matindu donates Rs. 12,500 for Jammu & Kashmir tragedy and cheque was given to Sh. Rajiv Ahlawat SDM Kharkhoda.


Educational Tour to Agra

Many times, school plans educational trips for the students. After the first Summative Assessment was over, the school organized a 2 day, 1 night trip to the Agra to see the Taj Mahal and other historical monuments along with Agra Air Force Station.

The students were pretty excited about the trip and especially Air Force station. There they came to know how our Air Force works, how fighters plans taker off, how they land and how a pilot and ground controlling unit work together. The students were amused to meet the officers. The excitement was on the air when they saw different  fighters plans.

After Air Force base station the students visited the “TAJ” and they felt enlighted to see the glorious past of India. The Principal Mr. J.S. Rana alongwith Mrs. Jyoti Dahiya , Neeru Vashisth and Mr. Sanjay accompanied the students.



In the history of 100 years of Gurukul Sr. Sec. School, Matindu it happens first time when it is decided to celebrate Alumni Meet on 16 November 2014. Sh. S.K.Paliwal (Ex-Principal) was the Chief Guest of the function.

Alumni from 2010 onwards batches were invited on this occasion and that was one of the unforgettable movement for them as they claimed. They also gave suggestion and shared their experiences.

The chairperson Retd. Brig Satya Dev Dahiya,Shri Yashveer Aacharya, Shri Anand Prakash are some of Alumni of Gurukul Matindu. They also shared their experiences.

Alumni had showed great fun in recreational activities i.e. Musical Chair, Tug of War, Sack Race and Treasure Haunt.

The celebration ended in a high node after distributing the mementoes.



Annual Athletic Meet (5-6 Dec 2014)

 Gurukul Matindu Athletic Meet held on 5 & 6th November 2014. The glittering opening ceremony commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest. The walk past of students charmed one and all. The most solemn part of the ceremony was the relay of the Torch by the school’s note worthy sports persons, and the Athletes. The Chief Guest administered the oath to the athletes, thereafter hoisting the flag and declaring the meet open, admits thunderous applause.
The bevy  of events for the meet included 100m , 200m, 400m, 800m, 4x100m, 4x200m, relays , long Jump, High Jump, Shot put, Discus Throw etc. These were the events for both boys & girls as well as for Seniors & Juniors students.
As the students wild cheers rent the air, the athletes, with grit and determination, raced to achieve victory and glory for their respective houses, Anirudh of Class 10+2 from Ganga  House declared the best athlete and Sweta from Ganga House proved herself as the best girl athlete. The meet ended with ultimate joy and delighted spirit.




An Inter School Hindi Declamation was organized by our school on 17th January 2015 in the memory of Ch. Piru Singh (Founder of Gurukul Matindu). The Registrar of B.P.S.M, Khanpur Kalan, Sonipat Kavita Chakravarti was Chief Guest at the programme. Prof. Dr. PAwan Kumar Hooda C.R.A College (Sonipat), Prof. Shabnam Rathee Jat college (Rohtak) and Ex-Principal Jagdev Singh Vedalankar of Neki Ram Govt. College (Rohtak) were judges in the Contest. The Declamation were divided into two groups:- Junior and Senior. The students of various schools participated in it and expressed their views in a very clear and impressive manner. There was a big applause for participants. The results were declared in the end. In the Senior group Priyanka Kohar of our school got Ist position. Tanvi from Indian School Sonipat got IInd position and Pooja from P.S.M, kharkhoda got IIIrd position. In Junior group, Tanu from Kalpana Chawla School got Ist position, Seema from Vidya Bharti School got IInd Position and Amrata from Gurukul got IIIrd position. In overall result Gurukul Sr. Sec. School  got  Ist Position and Kalpana Chawla Vidya Peeth got IInd Position. Kaplana Chawla School got running trophy.DSC_0074


Annual Function

                In Gurukul Matindu Sonipat Annual Function was celebrated on 31st Dec 2014 as Customary. Its theme was-“Dharohar Diwas”. It was started with Hawan then followed the lightening of Lamp & different cultural programmes comprising values.

The chief Guest & other dignitaries of this function were Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal (Ex-Education Minister of Haryana) & Sh. B.B.Batra , Sh. Jaiveer Balmiki, Alumni & Parents were also present.

Principal of the school read the school report. All the guests & parents praised the cultural programmes performed by students on stage. The school Calendar was released on this function. Then the best students were awarded with trophies who were best in different fields like-Best NCC, Best Senior student, Best Cub & Bulbul, Best Athlete etc. On this occasion the best House of the school was announced. But it was quite surprising that two Houses:- Sabarmati & Ganga House were at this position.

In the last “Prasad” was given to parents & students. It was enjoyable, value inculcating and refreshing.


  A Centenary Celebration of Gurukul Matindu, Sonipat

Gurukul Sr. Sec. School, Matindu 100th year celebration held on Sunday, 18th January 2015. It was the grandest and the most awaited event in the school calendar. Chief Guest was Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda (Ex-Chief Minister Haryana) Presiding Guest was Dr. Ram Prakash ( Ex-MP, Rajya Sabha,Chancellor of Gurukul Kangadi), and Other than these many Arya Samajess, Social Servants were also there to appreciate the achievements of the sapling sown by Ch. Piru Singh in 1915. Till today Gurukul Matindu is performing its duty not only in education but in all spheres of social service.

The celebration ceremony commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest  Shri Bhupender Singh Hooda (Ex-Chief Minister of Haryana) and Guests Dr. Ram Prakash ( Ex-MP, Rajya Sabha,Chancellor of Gurukul Kangadi), escorted by the smartly attired Guard of honor. First of all the Chief Guest inaugurated Gurukul Museum and Vedalankar Bhawan. Gurukul Matindu has honored Martyr Sahadev’s wife and Sahadev from Bhaproda son of great freedom fighters. Then energetic & enthusiastic performance of welcome song & Gurukul Geet by the school choir compelled the audience to put their hands together.

Speeches by Dr. Rajender Vidyalankar , Dr. Ram Chander from Kurukhesrta University,Prof. Surender Kumar (Chiarman Swami Dayanand Chair, MDU, Rohtak) & on Arya Samaj Indian culture and Heritage, were the most fabulous. The thoughts of Dr. Ram Prakash ( Ex-MP, Rajya Sabha,Chancellor of Gurukul Kangadi), inspired the whole gathering to give new horizon to our culture & heritage.

On this occasion Gurukul Matindu is greatly thankful to the Postal Department. The department release stamp on Gurukul Matindu “ Shikhar Magazine” and  “Samarika” were also released.

As in the words of Chairperson Brig. Satya Dev, “We feels dignified and obliged that we belong to such a primitive and grand institute.” The institute has been giving the best since its establishment.

National Award for Social Initiative

Gurukul Sr Sec School was selected in North Zone for an all India award for National Education Excellence Awards 2013 in rural area by ASSOCHAM, INDIA. The award was presented by Dr. M.M Pallam Raju Hon’ble minister of HRD Govt of India in New Delhi on 09 Apr 2013. The chairman congratulated the principal and staff for this National level achievement.

Extra Curricular Activities

The school gives due importance to extra curricular activities including Scout, guide and Bul-Bul . Considering participation in camps and various others activities, the school was judged as the best scouting school (Thanks Badge) in Sonipat District (Haryana). The best scouting school award was presented by the Hon’ble Governor Haryana Sh. Jagannath Pahadia, at the state level function at Chandigarh on 06 Aug 2013…

Donation for Uttarakhand Relief

The Institute believes in imparting value education through practical action. To inculcate the spirit of helping the neighbors at the time of need, the students and the staff members were encouraged to raise funds for Uttarakhand relief fund. It is heartening to note that an amount of Rs. 41000/- (Forty One Thousand Only ) was collected. This amount has been sent to the ‘Prime Minister’s Relief Fund’, through SDM, Kharkhoda. The SDM congratulate the students for the gesture and for the concern shown for the disaster effected population, since Gurukul Sr. Sec. School is the only school in this Sub-division, which has given this kind of donation.
